The last fifteen years, Virginia was too ill for much traveling. Then the reason for taking the medicine returned. Reuben Davies Cook, 83, passed away at his home in Wellfleet, surrounded by his family, on May 12, Reuben remained a Texas Aggie at heart. He went on to become a highway bridge engineer, then worked for many years on US aerial and space reconnaissance programs through the Defense Mapping Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office.
In addition to his civilian government career, Reuben retired as a colonel in the Army Reserves. He culminated his career as chairman of a NATO defense working group, with frequent trips to European nations regarding alliance issues. Reuben was very active in community events and organizations, including Boy Scouts, the Masons, and the Wellfleet Historical Society. Since retiring to Wellfleet, he has been an active member of the First Congregational Church of Wellfleet.
He was an avid outdoorsman, from his early years in South Texas, to years as a hunter and competitive target shooter, to sailing on Wellfleet Harbor in later years. Reuben was fond of history, learning, and books, with a well-deserved reputation among family and friends as a walking encyclopedia.

Dingman was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last November and died at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington following a brief hospitalization, said his wife of 57 years, Ann Dingman. Richard Dingman was born in Baltimore to parents who were Salvation Army officers.
He and his family relocated several times on various Salvation Army pastoral assignments and moved to Washington, D. That year, Dingman began his federal career with the U. Coast and Geodetic Survey and joined the U.
Army Reserves as an enlisted man. He went on active duty in and spent the following year as an Army photographer in Korea. He received a direct commission in in his Topographical Unit. Dingman left the Army Reserves in at the rank of second lieutenant.
He then served as a senior congressional aide for 13 years, including six years as executive director of the House Republican Study Committee. Dingman and his family moved to Vienna in In , he was elected to the Vienna Town Council at age 29 and was re-elected four times, serving a total of 10 years. The town government subsequently implemented computer technology. The pair first met when Dingman was making his initial run for Council. It was pretty smelly in summer.
Former Council member Maud Robinson, whose late husband, Mayor Charles Robinson, served alongside Dingman, also recalled difficulties stemming from the sewage-treatment plant.
Dingman and his wife bought a home in southwest Vienna and were misled about the stench fouling the air, she said. Dingman attended college while working full-time for the federal government. For more than 20 years, he was active at McLean Bible Church.
In , Dingman helped obtain signatures from more than half the members of Congress in support of a proclamation designating as the International Year of Bible Reading. Since the borders to the east were opened, the GOC has played a pioneering role for Russia and other eastern European countries. The GOC became the most important open tournament for couples from those nations because of its relative proximity.
The number of entries and participants have more than doubled since the start and the GOC is extended to four days. Along with Germany, the highest number of couples come from Russia. Eastern Europe leads the way as far as the juniors are concerned. The dancing Oscar is designed to decorate couples not only for their competitve careers but also for their bonds to the GOC. The award was discontinued in The number of participating couples now exceeds for the first time, the GOC lasts five days.
There are now 23 competitions. For the first time there are new age groups for the juniors: The team matches are very popular. Freestyle is new in the programme. Public interest is ever increasing, the number of spectators has grown to per day — the Rosengarten cannot accomodate any more. Also included is a World Cup in Tango Argentino.
